I recently saw the feature film The Aviator starring Leonardo DiCaprio. This film was about the life of Howard Hughes. Not only did I find the film very well done but it also inspired me to set goals and fulfill them. As I saw the beginning of the film, starting off with Howard Hughes only 22 years old directing his own full length film, it made me look at the limitations I put on myself. He put his mind into something and was able to accomplish it even though he just about put his family business into bankruptcy to make the film. I am currently 22 years old right now and I plan on creating a documentary as soon as I graduate college that will impact the world. Although Howard Hughes eventually ended up insane there are many principals I learned from the start of Howard’s career.

Emotion
Posted in Personal Experience on September 8, 2008 by MichaelThis week I came across a video that I found had an emotional impact on myself. I enjoy seeing short videos that can convey a large amount of emotion. This video titled World’s Best Dad , gave me an insight on how to execute a great documentary. One day I hope to travel to other countries and film documentaries for Christian organizations. I hope that one day I can create a documentary that will convey the same amount of emotion and hopefully change lives along the way.
Interest in video
Posted in Personal Experience on September 7, 2008 by MichaelMy name is Michael Grow and I am transfer student in my junior year at Gardner-Webb University. I have discovered many sites to view media content and these sites have helped me decide to get my degree in communications. I have had a fasination with the film industry and also how the use of video with simple tecniques can find a way to convey messages with lasting impacts on one’s emotion. One site that has a vast index of video content is Youtube.com. This site has given me an interest in creating home video which has inspired me to eventually create professional video documentaries.
